The next generation of cab radios will be based on FRMCS technology and will initially utilise a data transmission system that offers extremely high bandwidth and remarkably low latency. In addition, security and reliability will be improved by utilising private and commercial 5G networks. Based on its many years of expertise in GSM-R, analogue train radio and LTE-based radio modules, Funkwerk has developed a 5G-based radio interface with a processor unit for the next generation of train communication.
The mobile radio interfaces are implemented using the integrated industry standard-compliant modem. This not only ensures support for different mobile radio systems and frequency bands, but also outstanding future viability and flexibility.
This makes the MT18 also fulfils future requirements in global use and can be easily adapted to national circumstances.
