The central unit CR26 is a train radio device for GSM-R radio networks and ensures the train driver's operational communication. The CR26 can be used with an analogue radio ARM26/ARM26C into a dual-mode train radio device for voice radio/shunting radio and data radio applications. It fulfils the European requirements for use in rail vehicles.

The CR26 is the Main component of a digital train radio system. It contains the digital transmitter and receiver unit, the control unit, the interface modules for connecting external devices and the internal power supply. The module CON26 forms the central control unit. It controls the radio connection, regulates the call priorities, controls the operating units, the module for the digital train radio, the data applications and the interface modules. Software, configuration and diagnostic data can be downloaded from the CR26 can be read and/or updated both via the LAN interface and via the air interface.

The terminal device operates in accordance with GSM 05.05 Phase 2+ and in the extended GSM / GSM-R frequency range in the following frequencies: Transmit frequency range: 873 to 915 MHz and receive frequency range: 918 to 960 MHz.
