Visual and acoustic passenger information

As a railway operator, satisfied passengers come first. This goal can only be achieved if the passenger is informed about any changes regarding their train trip as promptly as possible. In addition to delays and platform changes, this primarily also includes changes to the train direction or alternative connection options. Modern passenger information systems from Funkwerk actively support you and automatically perform as many routines as possible.

Funkwerk is one of Europe’s leading providers of modern passenger information systems for regional and long distance transit. We provide everything you need from a single source – from system designs, implementation and installation, to service and maintenance. We also have the right solution for your rail or local transit operations!

Everything is under control with FIA

FIA

Your solution for all modern passenger management requirements is: FIA (Passenger Information System). Funkwerk has created FIA, a software system for regional and long distance transit that can be applied worldwide. FIA also offers fully automatic provision with announcements and advertisements in real time, even in complex network structures.

  • Control software relies on the operative system’s schedules and traffic data
  • Integration of current data regarding the train’s position using sensors and GPS – this enables both exact prognoses of possible delays as well as to-the-second announcements at stopping points and train platforms
  • Fully-automatic control of all processes
  • Schedule changes, platform changes, special trains, replacement service and new stops can be integrated into the information

Clear announcements with Cura®

CURA®

For travellers, latest announcements, especially those pertaining to train connections, must be clearly and distinctly understandable. Our Cura® sound system does this – efficiently and maintenance-free. The Cura® sound system controls an electric loudspeaker system (ELA) and integrates additional amplifiers. With Cura® you are able to operate two independent loudspeaker circuits.

Cura® can be used for up to eight different announcements at a time. By integrating “text-to-speech” synthesis (multi-lingual) acoustic information can be emitted in multiple languages or voices. The volume can also be adjusted to the ambient noise.

One passenger display says more than a thousand words

In addition to clearly understandable announcements, visual displays are also essential for providing information about arrivals and departures, the status of wagons and changes in railway and urban transit. With Funkwerk’s many years of experience in development, construction and maintenance of stationary display systems, you will find the right display for your transport operation at Funkwerk.

Depending on static specifications, legal requirements of readability (TSI-PRM) or climate conditions, we will find the right, custom solution for you – independent of technology – whether TFT, LCD or LED technology.

All our display systems have the necessary certifications and declarations of conformity for use in the railway sector (DIN EN 50121, DIN EN55022, DIN EN55024, DIN EN 61000, DIN EN60950, DIN EN 62262, etc.).

Do you want to stand out from the grey mass of passenger information displays available on the market and create unique recognition value with your own, modern design? We work successfully with an external design office that focuses not only on the technology but on unmistakeable recognition value as well.

Information – naturally accessible

TSI-PRM compliant information columns

The era of schedules and wagon status indicators on paper have long since been a thing of the past. Modern technology has one crucial advantage: If the arrival of a train has to be switched to another platform, the corresponding information simply moves with it – fully-automatic without an operator having to intervene.

Our TSI-PRM-compliant information columns are consistently accessible. For instance, by pressing a button – that is of course written in Braille – passengers with visual impairments can have the texts read out loud to them. Passengers in wheelchairs or of smaller stature are also taken into consideration: Texts displayed at greater heights are difficult for people in these groups to read. By pressing the button with the wheelchair symbol, the information scrolls down to eye level.

Equipping our display systems

Displays have protection class IP65 or IP54 (DIN EN 60529) and are certified accordingly

→ to declaration of conformity

Brightness control by regulating backlight in the dark; this also increases service life

agsdix-null

Heating, ventilators and heat exchangers ensure an optimum operating temperature at all times

~

Hermetically sealed heat exchanger provides dust-free display housing

The air circulating in the displays prevents condensation on the protective pane

agsdix-null

Display panels are equipped to be energy-efficient with IR and UV filters

LSG – Laminated safety glass, in case of damage partly separately replaceable

→ to datasheet

Modular design enables exchange of individual components

Simple and cost-effective maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures long, fault-free function. Our in-house, certified experts or our partner companies are happy to do the necessary repairs. Naturally, we also keep cost-effectiveness in mind: Because of our modular design, most individual components can be exchanged out easily.

Using sensor data, optimizing processes

Predictive Maintenance

Sensors such as those installed in our passenger information systems or video surveillance systems provide thousands of data. It is our task to make this data usable and also safer for you – so processes can be optimized and the availability of your systems increased.

VANGA is our software-as-a-service application for needs-oriented maintenance. The software automatically evaluates the key sensor data from systems and devices and makes precise predictions on this basis regarding impending system failures. If there is a threat of defects or failure, VANGA reports this to the right contact partner before it happens – for a fast reaction, lowering of maintenance costs and the best possible availability of your infrastructure. Downtimes are reduced virtually to zero (“predictive maintenance”).
