Funkwerk wins several new framework agreements in the field of passenger information systems

Kölleda, 23 October 2023 - Funkwerk AG, one of the leading technology providers of innovative communication, information and safety systems as well as technical services, has been awarded several major contracts in recent weeks. The sales volume of the framework agreements in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH), which are essential for the further business development of the Passenger Information Systems division and each extend over several years, totals up to EUR 50 million over the entire term.

Among other things, Funkwerk is responsible for the development, delivery and service of a new generation of train information monitors for Deutsche Bahn (DB AG), which will be installed on platforms and in station buildings. The framework agreement, which will run for at least four years, covers a wide range of display variants and cabinets. DB's aim is to modernise all platform displays by 2030 and provide passengers with the best possible customer information as well as enabling paperless platforms.

BLS AG, the second largest railway company in Switzerland, has commissioned Funkwerk to redevelop the customer information systems installed throughout the country, which will be replaced over the next few years. Two individually designed components are being developed for this purpose: A column with a monitor and a column that includes a text-to-speech function and a button for on-demand stops (stop on demand). Both systems will be supplied in several variants and integrated into the BLS AG railway network. In addition to development, the project, which will start this year and run until at least 2026, also includes maintenance and support for the customer information systems.

Funkwerk develops, produces and installs around 2,800 information steles suitable for outdoor use at Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) stations. The digital systems display various mobility information and information about the railway station. This framework agreement, which covers a period of eight years, also ensures capacity utilisation in the Passenger Information Systems division.
